Embracing Motherhood: A Practical Guide to Your DIY Diaper Caddy

Hey Mama!

I can hardly believe it's been eight months since my little boy entered the world, turning our lives into a beautiful chaos of baby giggles and sleepless nights. Time truly does fly when you're having fun as a mom of two!

Today, I want to share a little nugget of wisdom that made those early months a bit more manageable for me – my trusty DIY diaper caddy.

After my C-section, the last thing I wanted to do was navigate the house for baby essentials.

So, I decided to set up a little oasis of baby care right by my bedside. Let me tell you, having a diaper caddy and a water dispenser for bottle prep within arm's reach was a game-changer.

I opted for a simple rectangular container from IKEA, but this diaper caddy is an awesome alternative too. The key is to choose something not too bulky, easy to carry around, and spacious enough for all your necessities.

Now, let's dive into the magic that made those early months a bit less chaotic:

1. Diapers: Always the first on the list – a no-brainer!

2. Wipes: A diaper-changing essential. Trust me; you can never have too many wipes.

3. Diaper cream: Ensuring a content baby means keeping them comfortable. Personally, I rely on two brands – A+D ointment and a Dutch favorite, Sudocrem. While both are excellent at preventing diaper rash, my preference leans towards A+D ointment because it doesn't leave any white residue, unlike Sudocrem. Remarkably, my boys never experienced diaper rash with the use of either of these creams.

4. Burping cloth: An unsung hero for the unexpected messes.

5. Change of clothes: For both baby and, let's be honest, sometimes for you too.

6. Hand sanitizer: A must, especially during those on-the-go diaper changes.

7. Glow-in-the-dark pacifier: Because searching for a lost pacifier at 3 am is not fun.

8. Foldable changing mat: Compact and convenient for impromptu changes.

9. Night light: Soft enough to not wake the baby but bright enough for those nighttime duties.

10. Small toy: A distraction during changes – trust me, it helps.

If you're breastfeeding, consider adding:

1. Hands-free breast pump: A must-have for pumping sessions. I absolutely loved this hands-free breast pump – it made multitasking a breeze! Whether I was tackling household chores or playing with my oldest, its user-friendly design allowed me to pump effortlessly. While it might be a bit on the pricey side, believe me, the investment is entirely justified!

2. Nipple shield: Sometimes a lifesaver for those early breastfeeding days.

3. Nipple cream: A true companion for comfort and healing, the Earth Mama Nipple Butter is nothing short of amazing! I can't sing its praises enough – you're bound to adore it!

4. Water Bottle: Staying hydrated is key for breastfeeding moms.

5. Small snack: Because hunger strikes at the most inconvenient times.

For bottle-feeding moms, include:

1. Water dispenser: Effortlessly delivers filtered water at the perfect temperature. Although the Tommee Tippee is no longer on the market, the Bellababy water dispenser stands out as an excellent alternative!

2. Baby food Tower: Easily accessible for feeding time.

3. Sterilized bottles: Ready to go when hunger calls. I personally recommend the Avent bottles with the anti-colic insert – a lifesaver for preventing colic issues with both of my boys. The Avent starter set is another favorite of mine; it's convenient to have everything bundled together, making it an excellent choice for newborn essentials or as a thoughtful baby shower gift

There you have it, Mama! My little DIY diaper caddy revolutionized those late-night diaper changes and feedings. Feel free to customize it to fit your unique needs, adding items that make your life as a mom easier.
